Meydenbauer Convention Center / "Field Guide to Bellevue"
Objective: Meydenbauer Center, a mid-sized convention facility in Bellevue, WA, wanted to raise the national awareness of Bellevue as an appealing event destination and attract groups from 200-1,500.
Challenge: Bellevue is simply not on the map for many East Coast, and Midwest meeting planners. Many have not heard of the city, or think of it as an outpost — and others think of Bellevue as a rather famous East Coast psychiatric hospital.
Solution: To create the level of allure necessary to attract national meeting planners, a multi-tiered campaign was produced to promote Bellevue's scenic beauty, close proximity to Seattle, exceptional shopping and thriving nightlife. "A Field Guide to Bellevue, WA," playfully contrasted the Northwest's reputation for rugged wilderness with the elegance found in Bellevue — giving conventioneers the best of both worlds: beautiful scenery and plenty to do. The campaign consisted of ads, direct mail and coordinated tradeshow signage.
